What I have learnt from analysing Narrative/Performance in music videos:
The narrative always tells a story, in most of the videos above it seems to be telling a story about something bad/sad. The greyscale effect (or black and white effect) helps to convey the message of dark or sad times. This tells me that if we have a part in our music video which is quite sad then we could also use the black and white to add to the connotations of being sad.
The performance element in most of these videos, mainly just shows the lead singer, you rarely see any instrument/band, which tells us that we should probably do the same, to make sure we fit the indie alternative genre.

A bit brief. To improve this summarise what you have learnt from analysing the music videos. How are you going to use these ideas in your own music video?
ReplyDeleteAlso, embed all of the music videos you analyse.
Hi Louise, I am really struggling to embed the videos, I have tried it several times but it is still not working. Any tips?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
