Our Storyboard

This is our video of the storyboard for our music video. We have drawn out our initial ideas for the video.
BASIC STORYLINE:
Two super heroes get 'fed up' of being good and turn evil. They end up joining forces with super villains. They terrorise the local town and generally just cause havoc! We will also have performance elements in the video, which our actor, Ryan, will be performing. The story will end with one of the super heroes being confronted by a loving fan, so naturally they change their ways back to good! The villains are arrested and the super heroes walk out into the horizon.

Audience Feedback from Our Pitch

From this, it is clear to see that our most people think our ideas link in with the genre well. They like the idea of the superheroes turning bad and think it's original and morer interesting than the common 'Twilight' themes often used.
Many people said that they reckon we should use more locations other than the forest and the town. They believe that the forest should not be our main location for the performance element, as it could be seen as romantic, which I can actually sympathize with.

Actors and Casting

This is a picture of my group. We will all be acting in the video.
Hazel and Hannah will be playing the Villains (who remain villains throughout the whole music video).  We have chosen Hannah and Hazel for the villains because they said that they wanted to be the villains and because they both look like they could suit the villain stereotype (dark clothes and make-up). Both Hannah and Hazel fit the style of Indie Alternative as they both wear dark coloured clothes; which also fits the style of super villains.
Me and Sophie will be playing the Heroes (who turn bad). We chose me and Soph to be the heroes because we volunteered and because me and Sophie are willing to wear brighter colours and take on the acting challenge of turning from good to evil. Me and Sophie also fit the style of super heroes as we wear brighter colours and lighter make up. We both fit the style of Indie because we wear the same sort of clothes that indie singers would wear.
This is Ryan. We have chosen Ryan to lead the performance part of our video. We have chosen Ryan because he fits the genre of Indie Alternative (piercing, longer hair, dark coloured hair, dark indie clothing). During filming we have realised that we will need to pin/spray his hair back in a quiff or slightly out of his face, to make sure that he fits the genre even more.

Genre Research -Narrative/Performance

What I have learnt from analysing Narrative/Performance in music videos:
The narrative always tells a story, in most of the videos above it seems to be telling a story about something bad/sad. The greyscale effect (or black and white effect) helps to convey the message of dark or sad times. This tells me that if we have a part in our music video which is quite sad then we could also use the black and white to add to the connotations of being sad.
The performance element in most of these videos, mainly just shows the lead singer, you rarely see any instrument/band, which tells us that we should probably do the same, to make sure we fit the indie alternative genre.

Rough Ideas for our Costume

This is a rough draft of our first ideas for superhero/super villain costumes for our music video.
We have drawn down some rough ideas for our superhero costumes. They follow the same general characteristics you would expect to find on a superhero costume, for example; both the outfits have some sort of a logo or something that identifies them (yellow: lightening bolt, green: bright waistband). The also both have head gear whch is very common with superheroes. The head gear matches the rest of the outfit.

Permission from Canterbury

Getting permission from our chosen artist:
Canterbury - More than know

I wrote to Canterbury on Facebook asking for their permission to use their song 'More than know' for our music video project.
